My Song Dedicated to Kristina: More Than the Sand

My feet sunk into the wet sand on the beach of Galveston, TX. It was springtime, 2010, and I was spending the day with the Lord. I love these days–away from the hustle and bustle of ministry. He refreshes us each time we are in His presence.

I was reading Psalm 139.

17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them!
18 If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand;
When I awake, I am still with You.

He gave me a meaningful tune, and the song just flowed. Little did I know that just a few months later, our lives would be changed. A child with cancer.

Last week one of my best friends, Robin Zaruba, and I recorded the song. It’s a one-take recording–we didn’t cut and paste the best parts. I didn’t want to. I wanted it to be raw and authentic.

My new band, NoonDay, will be doing this song on our Inspiring Evangelism Tour this year. I’ll be speaking about our family’s adventure with Kristina, and what God has done in us through this journey. My hope and prayer is that this will inspire people–believers in Jesus just like you–to do whatever it takes to bring the lifesaving gospel to children and their families.

Later that year (2010), God led me to be the Director of Child Evangelism Fellowship of Greater Houston. Since then we’ve met dozens of bald children, and hundreds of other children–many have not heard the truth that Jesus died for their sins and rose from the dead. Can you see this? Only God could arrange such a series of events–albeit, painful–to make us so passionate to see children and their families believe in Jesus. We will do whatever it takes to save our daughter’s life. And now, we will do whatever it takes to bring the lifesaving gospel to children.

May this song inspire you to do whatever it takes–sacrifice, sweat, bleed–to bring the gospel to lost children and their families.

What else is more important in this life?

To the glory of God–let’s evangelize!

How does this song inspire you? Slap me some feedback!
