I want to take you on an expedition.

Expedition for Hope is a highly motivated experience that brings to life the beauty of the great hope we have in Jesus Christ. In this 3-part series of exciting presentations, I’ll take you and your group on a “mountain climb” to learn what real hope is. The goal is to understand fully Romans 5:3-5:

And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

But the audience will not hear that passage until the very end. This 3-part series builds to a fantastic climax starting with:

The Base? It’s really all about that bucket. Yes, there is a bucket on this expedition! I don’t wanna spoil anything, so I’ll just say that we’re gearing up with the knowledge and understanding of who we really are in Christ. The passage is Colossians 3, and the best part is that we are “hidden with Christ in God.” There is a bucket analogy here that paints a great picture of this truth. You’ll love it! (Personally, I’ve grown to love buckets because of this. LOL)

Knowing who we are enables us to begin our ascent…

We’ll be in Genesis 22 where God tells Abraham to sacrifice his only son. This is a heavy session as I share my story of my daughter, Kristina, battling cancer for 4 years and dying at age 12. No parent should have to bury his child, and Abraham was told to sacrifice his only son.

Step after step, however, Abraham persevered through the suffering as he climbed that mountain in Moriah. He persevered because he knew God was trustworthy.

I have the most fun giving this message! Using the true story of Caleb from Joshua 14, it’s a climactic experience of witnessing Caleb, after his persevering which led to his approved character, tell Joshua, “Give me this mountain!” The audience feels the excitement brewing as we’ve been climbing and climbing, persevering that leads to approved character, and finally we summit our mountain and find that approved character leads to a hope that never fails.

What’s it good for?

Expedition for Hope is perfect for audiences large or small, middle school and up. It fits well with church retreats, Disciple Nows, youth camps, school assemblies, and can be adapted to a keynote presentation or a 1.5-hour night of inspiration. I have 20-plus years experience speaking to crowds numbering in the thousands, as well as small groups. I love ’em all!
